The UAE Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced that Wednesday, January 1, 2025, will be a public holiday for government employees to mark the New Year. This will be the first public holiday of the upcoming year and falls in line with the official holiday calendar released earlier this year.
Public UAE Holidays 2025
Residents in the UAE can look forward to up to 13 days of public holidays in 2025, offering opportunities to celebrate significant occasions and enjoy extended breaks. The UAE Cabinet’s resolution for the year includes adjustments to key Islamic holidays, particularly Eid Al Fitr.
Adjusted Eid Al Fitr Holiday Schedule
Eid Al Fitr, which follows the holy month of Ramadan, will see a slightly shorter break compared to previous years:
- If Ramadan lasts 30 days, residents will have four days off, spanning Ramadan 30 to Shawwal 3.
- If Ramadan lasts 29 days, the break will cover only Shawwal 1 to 3, amounting to three days off.
In 2024, the Eid Al Fitr holiday lasted from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3, translating into a nine-day break when combined with weekends. The updated schedule reflects a more concise approach for the 2025 holiday.
Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha
The Islamic festival of Eid Al Adha remains a key highlight of the holiday calendar. The schedule includes:
- Arafah Day on Dhul Hijjah 9, considered the holiest day in Islam.
- Eid Al Adha from Dhul Hijjah 10 to 12, offering a three-day break.
Combined, these dates will provide a four-day holiday for residents to observe and celebrate.
