Friday’s tech rally brought much-needed relief to markets, sparked by a headline: Oracle will host TikTok user data in the US, opening up a new potential source of cloud revenue and giving it a roughly 15% stake in TikTok’s newly regulated US business. Oracle shares rose more than 6%, while Nvidia and Nasdaq shares also rose as investors bet on the value of massive data centers and computing power.
Meanwhile, in China, Moore Threads has announced new AI chips that it claims will rival Nvidia’s H200 and narrow the gap with the next-gen Blackwell series.
Technology stocks rose, but with cash declining at the end of the year, investors are watching closely as the global semiconductor race accelerates.
