The British pound (GBO) is flat and enters Thursday’s NA session with marginal gains as it outperforms almost all G10 currencies in generally quiet trading, according to Sean Osborne and Eric Theort, chief FX strategists at Scotiabank.
Sterling flat ahead of key Bank of England speeches
“The focus is on the Bank of England ahead of key speeches from MPC members Dhingra and Mann. Recent comments from Mann have leaned hawkish with an emphasis on upside risks to inflation, while Dhingra’s comments have skewed dovish highlighting growth concerns and continued weak UK consumption compared to expectations.”
“Fundamental releases were limited to disappointing second-tier CBI business sentiment data. The highlight of the week remains Friday’s retail sales and preliminary PMI.”
