GBP/JPY Price Analysis: Hits fresh highs above 209.00 due to persistent bullish bias

The GBP/JPY pair is hitting new highs after recording a few losses in the previous session, trading at 209.18 during the early European hours on Friday. Looking at the daily chart, it appears that the currency pair is moving upward within an ascending channel pattern, indicating a continuation of the bullish bias.

The nine-day exponential moving average (EMA) rises above the 50-day EMA, reinforcing the uptrend. GBP/JPY is holding above both averages, confirming the strength of the trend. Additionally, the 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI), a key momentum measure, remains at 66.90 bullish, far from overbought territory. The Relative Strength Index has improved in recent sessions, which supports the continuation.

The GBP/JPY pair may reach new highs near 210.00. A break of this psychological level may extend the advance towards the upper border of the ascending channel around 213.10. Short-term momentum remains steady as rising averages help contain pullbacks and maintain bullish bias.

On the downside, GBP/JPY may find its main support at the nine-day moving average at 208.10, followed by the lower limit of the ascending channel around 207.50. Further declines below the channel would weaken the bullish bias and put downward pressure on the currency pair to test the 50-day EMA at 205.10.
